Castledown School - Welcome |
|
At Castledown School we put teaching and learning at the heart of everything we do. In the last three years the school has moved from being in Special Measures to one of the highest performing schools in the area. Castledown has recently been classified as "Good" in every aspect by Ofsted in September 2007.
As a small secondary school we know all of our students well and offer them an exciting curriculum with a high level of pastoral support. Our GCSE results have more than doubled in the past three years our Key stage 3 value added performance puts us in the top 7% of schools nationally.
Currently we are registering to become an Academy with a total rebuild of our current facilities and, over the next few years, an increase in numbers to 1,100 students including 250 in Post 16 education.
If you are interested in finding out more about us, please contact us and I would be only too pleased to show you around our school.

The plans for the Academy are progressing well, with many aspects of opening a new school being considered in detail. There have been a large number of separate consultations with all stakeholders, and everyone, including the Governing Body, supports the project.
The opening of the Academy is planned for September 2009, with the move to the new buildings in September 2010. It is a very tight schedule but with everyone’s support, achievable.
The final decision to go ahead will be taken in March 2008, after which, providing the project is approved, there will be no turning back.
