The Governors of Castledown School are working to promote the interests of all students attending the school. They do this by playing an active part in school life mainly through its committees – Teaching and Learning; Finance; Staffing and the over arching Strategy Committee which comprises the Chairs of the other Committees. The Chair of Governors is currently Mr Darren Savage, who can be contacted through the school.
The Governors also have a role to play in school discipline through its Governors Disciplinary Committee which meets to discuss and decide upon permanent exclusions recommended by the Headteache
The next full Governors meeting will held on the evening of Wednesday 9th July.

The School Council exists to provide a dialogue between the students and the staff. Each tutor group has a representative and issues discussed are fed back to the rest of the students by the representative.. Healthy eating has been a big issue and the reps were instrumental in choosing the new menus and testing them!
The next meeting of the school council will take place on Tuesday 29th April at 12.15pm in the Resource Centre.

2007 Results
Once again, Castledown Students have achieved excellent results at both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. SAT results at the end of Year 9 for 2006/2007 place us as a school in the top 7% of similar schools nationally with 83% of students achieving a level 5 in English, 68% in Maths and 77% in Science. These results also place us approximately in the top ten schools in Wiltshire. At level 6 the performance was also extremely pleasing and saw each core subject exceed their Local Authority target set in 2005.
At GCSE 51% of students achieved 5 or more GCSEs at A*-C level with many students gaining up to 10 GCSEs at the highest grades. The year group target was 43% and we were again one of the few schools in Wiltshire to exceed their externally set targets. The target for our current Year 11 is 64% A* - C. This is extremely ambitious and if achieved will place Castledown School well above the national average.

What is an Extended School?
An extended school works with the local authority and other partners to offer access to a range of services and activities which support and motivate children and young people to achieve their full potential. These services and activities are:
* a varied menu of activities, combined with childcare in primary schools
* community access to school facilities
* swift and easy access (referral) to targeted and specialist services
* parenting support.
Not every school will need to provide all these services and activities on its site –access can be through a cluster of local schools or through other providers.
