Term 1 (Autumn)
Outline of learning programme & topics:
Baseline Data Test – Pupils complete four tasks by which their artistic skills can be measured.
1. Observation drawing
2. Continuation drawing – pupils are given section of pictures and draw out from it
3. Tonal range and mark making sheet – pupils practice tonal range and MM techniques
4. Research sheet – pupils research an artist and present their finding.

Term 2 (Autumn)
Outline of learning programme & topics:
Printing Project- Colour mixing, observational drawing done initially, then pupils study the work of W Morris turning their observational drawings into print design. Pupils taught to use stryofoam as printing medium. Pupils evaluate work by comparing and contrasting to W Morris.

Term 3 (Spring)
Outline of learning programme & topics:
Shells / Abstract Project – Observational drawing of shells in variety of media. Fine art skills and quality taught. Accuracy / detail / tonal range. Pupils experiment with media and discuss properties of media. Pencils, charcoal, watercolour, oil, chalk, pastel, pen and pencil.

Term 4 (Spring)
Outline of learning programme & topics:
Continuation – Pupils study abstract art and work in the style of a chosen artist. Pupils to produce final piece based on shell drawing and showing inspiration from artists work. Mixed media piece – pupils select appropriate media based on media properties and personal skill.

Term 5 (Summer)
Outline of learning programme & topics:
India project: Students will study Indian style / design – looking at objects and artefacts from India. They will experiment with designs used for Henna tattooing, developing ideas of their own

Drawing around hand and filling with combination of Indian and own (Indian Style) designs

Continuation: Looking at Indian vessels make from papier mache. Pupils will make their own bowl and decorate using Indian design.
