In the music department we aim to foster enjoyment of a range of styles and cultures through listening, performing and composing work. Pupils are taught once a week in KS3, following a course of study embracing the requirements of the National Curriculum. Pupils also have access to private practice during lunchtime and break times, where they are welcome to use their own or school equipment to rehearse in groups or individually. Instrumental lessons are currently being taught in woodwind, brass, guitar, drums and piano, using peripatetic teachers. A number of students take part in extra-curricular activities, which at present include Singing group, Rock Academy and a Samba Band. We are aiming to start a KS4 music course in September 2008. The KS3 curriculum involves the use of ICT where possible and we are hoping to involve a number of workshops over the coming year. Pupils study the following: Year 7
Year 8
Year 9
